Time and Chance (2)
Time and Chance (2)
While some view "Time and Chance" as the opportunity God gives us to be blessed by Him, others believe "Time and Chance" is the opportunity and possibility we must take to be blessed by God.
They believe that "Time" represents God's timing and Chance" represents the possibility of us using our effort to utilize the opportunity God made available to us.
Well, which ever one you settle for, one thing is for sure, if God's input isn't there even if it seems that you have succeeded, you will not find fulfillment in it at the end of the day.
In Psalm 104: 27, King David aptly said this concerning the Almighty, "All creatures look to you to give them their food at the proper time."
He said it because he in time came to understand that whether a person toiled to get his daily bread or it was supplied via a paranormal way, both circumstances were orchestrated by one and the same God.
While in Psalm 31: 15, David said,
"My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me."
Sometimes God used supernatural means to subdue the enemies of King David while at other times He allowed David and his army to fight their enemies until they were victorious.
Can you fathom how in Psalm 9:9, David wrote,
"The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble," while in Psalm 10:1, he also wrote,
"Why, Lord, do you stand far off?
Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?"
Why? You might ask.
Let's ponder over these few reasons for a while:
1. We have a part to play in the lives of others in order to ensure God's Time and Chance is favourable to us:
As God forgives us as we forgive those who trespass against us so also does He meet some of our needs based on how we meet the needs of others.
That is why as in Matthew 25:31-40, when the Son of Man comes in his glory, as King He will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world... For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,... , "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
An example of this is Psalm 41:1, which says,
"Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the Lord delivers them in times of trouble."
In fact, all God's promises are conditional prepositions.
They are like that to ensure we are not selfish and inconsiderate to our fellow man.
Such affect God's Time and Chance, that is, the opportunity He make available to us for us to be successful and fulfilled in any endeavour.
You see, as in Hebrews 11:40,
"...,God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect."
2. "Time and Chance" are dependent on our knowledge of God's purpose for our lives per time.
In Ecclesiastes 3:11, we understand that, "(God) has made everything beautiful in its time..." and therefore all we need to experience the blessings and beauty God has in stock for our present and future is to walk with Him faithfully.
We can wittingly or unwittingly miss the time of His visitation, to our own detriment.
Luke 12:42-44, explains Time and Chance in light of God's purpose for our lives in the best way possible.
In this portion of Scripture Jesus was speaking to a crowd of people as well as his disciples about what he expects of his followers and their reward if they prove faithful.
He said this in a nutshell:
Who is the faithful and wise manager,
whom I put in charge of my servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time?
It will be good for that servant whom I find doing so when I return.
Truly I tell you,
I will put him in charge of all my possessions.
