Wisdom is the Principal thing

Wisdom is the Principal thing.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines Wisdom & Understanding as one and the same thing, which simply is the ability to know what is right.

God's Holy Writ is replete with How important His Wisdom is to His creation.

King Solomon knew this quite well as he wrote many sayings in the books of proverbs and Ecclesiastes that admonish men about obtaining it, such as Proverbs 4:5, which says,
"Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them."
In this scripture wisdom is equated with God's Word and we are advised not to forget them or disobey them.

Proverbs 4:7 , advises us thus:
Wisdom is the principal thing therefore get wisdom (KJV): Though it cost all you have, get understanding (NIV).

Here, he hits the nail on the head by saying in a nutshell that wisdom is the most important thing a man needs in life, and that one should acquire it no matter the cost.

In Proverbs 16:16, he emphatically says that, it is better to acquire wisdom than gold, and to get insight rather than silver.
while in Proverbs 19:8, he made these assertions:
The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.
A spot on example of how we can acquire wisdom can be understood by reading Luke 10:38 to 42.
It is an account about how Jesus and his disciples came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. While her sister Mary, sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said, Martha was distracted by all the preparations that she felt she had to make for her guests. When she came to Jesus and asked why the Lord, didn't care that her sister had left her to do all the work by herself, Jesus replied her by saying, “Martha, Martha,” ... “you are worried and upset about many things, but one thing is needful. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Our ability to know what is right per time can only be accomplished by our deliberate choice to sit at the feet of Jesus, listen to his teachings and enquire of him what he would have us do per time.

The gospel truth is that as in Luke 8:10, the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to all those who chose to follow Jesus, but to everyone else, the words of Jesus will always just be parables that they can't understand.

If we desire to act wisely at all times with the principal tool he has made available to us, then we must be his latter day disciples, who unlike the majority of the crowd that followed him for selfish gain, after hearing what Jesus said but didn't understand, would ask him what the parable meant (Luke 8:9).

God's wisdom is all you need to make sound decisions in life. Don't trifle with the time you need to make out to acquire it today.

Shalom.
