The Questions of Life (2)
The questions of life are meant to be answered. They are meant to be laid at the feet of Jesus so that he'll show us the best and only way to go, to live the successful and fulfilled life; the abundant life that God has preordained for us all.
As in Proverbs 25: 2, It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.
God will share His glory with no one who is not one with Him.
When a man respects God enough to come to Him over an issue before seeking the advice of another soul, to search out a matter that troubles him or that he has no control over, knowing that God has the solution to everything, and in His time, when the answer is revealed the person becomes a god unto that situation, such a person brings glory to God through the testimonies and praise to God that will definitely follow.
Solomon's God-given Wisdom would have been useless to humanity if he did not apply the ability God gave him to make right choices to the issues of life; to the questions and problems he and his subjects were faced with everyday.
If we would desire Solomon's result in life then we must identify the seed he sowed that gave him such a harvest of wisdom and prosperity, having the right motive for doing so.
The account of how Solomon got his wisdom can be found in 2 Chronicles 1: 6 to 10.
It happened that after Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings to the Lord, God appeared to him and gave him a blank cheque by telling him to ask for whatever he desired.
In reply to God's magnanimity, Solomon then asked for godly wisdom and knowledge to be bestowed upon him, that he may be able to lead God's chosen people aright, acknowledging that no one is able to govern Israel, God's people without God's guidance.
Judging from scripture, we can come to the conclusion that Solomon's wisdom and prosperity came about as a result of these:
1. Apart from God confirming the promise He made to Solomon's father, David, who also taught his son the way of the Lord, God gave Solomon audience based on the generous offering he made in a bid to enquire of Him on behalf of His people.
2. It was Solomon's hearts desire to obtain wisdom and knowledge from God, that he maylead God's people God's way and not how he would have liked it.
3. Since the heart’s desire of Solomon was not the major things that may even keep man away from God, like wealth, long life, possessions or honor, nor for the death of his enemies, but for wisdom and knowledge to govern God's people over whom he has been made king, God therefore gave him wealth, possessions and honor, such as no king who was before him ever had and none after him will have.
God gave him the 3 earthly ills of most leaders today, which are Money, Power and Famebecause he did not desire them as his prioritybut to do God's bidding with regards to His chosen people, Israel instead.
Proverbs 8:11, written by king Solomon's sums up his choice, where he said,
"for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her."
He also talked about the importance of God's wisdom in Proverbs 4: 7 KJV, when he declared,
"Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding."
In case you have forgotten, I must at this juncture remind you of this important reality, 'We are at war.'
The ancient enemy of our soul is actively recruiting people who willfully do his bidding and aide him in his quest to send as many of God's creation as possible to hell, his own eternal abode, but now an eternal resting place for all who rebel against God's sovereignty and live life on their own terms.
The Gospel Truth is that Jesus has Fought and Won all the battles we will ever face in life, and all our heavenly Father requires from us is to faithfully sit at the feet of Jesus Christ, our commanding officer, to obtain the necessary instructions required to be victorious in our individual assignments and put the devil to flight.
Go forth in the grace God has made available to you as a result of what you now know, be obedient to it and overcome the issues of life that come your way, in Jesus name.
Amen.
