Trust God for People to be Faithful.
We all on a daily basis ask and require our fellow men to do things for us at one point in time or the other.
We need to understand that even a person with the noblest of intentions towards us can fail us, not because the person has made up his mind to do so but because of several unforseen factors that may or may not even be beyond his control.
The truth is that the heart of a man is in God's Hands. The ultimate choice for a person to be faithful in what he has told you he will do for you, has a god factor that far outweighs whether the person was even truthful or not with regards to any commitment he may have made to you to help you achieve a task.
In Proverbs 21:1 KJV, it is aptly written thus:
The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
This portion of Scripture makes us understand the Sovereignty of God in the decisions men make in that He will ultimately get what He pleases because we are His creation and He is God Almighty, the author and finisher.
In Isaiah 2:22, mankind is admonished thus:
"Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem?"
In fact, in several verses of scripture, God's warning to mankind not to put their trust in their fellow men is clearly stated even to the point that in Jeremiah 17:5, the Lord said: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord."
God will not share His glory with another man. As His creation He expects us to have faith in Him and trust in Him alone.
If a man would have complete confidence in another, such misplaced faith in flesh that is prone to sin and failure is proof that such a person has turned his back on God Almighty, the only being that can ensure a man goes beyond his sinful nature and does what he says he will do.
Finally,
Let's learn to have faith in God alone for the faithfulness of our fellow men, to ensure we don't offend God for our foolishness in doing otherwise; so we are not disappointed beyond how we should be when people fail us and also, so God can be glorified when men do what they have told us they will do because God Almighty made it all possible, against all the odds that could have prevented them from doing so.
Shalom
